Sally Heep's rabbit closing in Boston Legal 1x03
Sally Heep's rabbit closing

Episode: 1x03 [Catch And Release]
Client: Ramone Velasquez
Case: The client was accused of stealing a wallet from a woman's purse.
CP&S Representation: Sally Heep
Opposing Counsel: District Attorney Huff
Presiding: Judge Stephen Bickel
Outcome: The jury found the defendant to be not guilty.
Notes:
  • This was Sally's first jury trial, and the firm sent partner Walter Seymore to observe her work on the case. She feared she could be fired if she lost the case.
  • Sally made a technical error during the trial by failing to contest the introduction of new evidence (a cell phone photograph) by a witness.
  • Alan Shore suggested to Sally that she entertain the jury with a long story in her closing, to get them on her side. Sally told an urban legend involving a rabbit. The jury returned its verdict in just 32 minutes.
