Judge Clark Brown debuted in
1x07 [Questionable Characters] where he presided over the case of Walter Mack, a man accused of being a slum lord. When Brown imposed a humiliating sentence, citing several prior cases as precedent, in return for accepting a plea on a lesser charge,
Alan Shore was irate until he learnt from
Denny Crane that the presiding judge in all of those cases had been Judge Brown himself. Alan Shore summoned Judge Brown before a disciplinary panel but the hearing was cut short when
Paul Lewiston intervened. The sentence was later lifted when Alan Shore brought Brown's mother to the courtroom and appealed to his sense of morality and fairness, having surmised that it was her emasculating influence that led to his sentencing methods.
Judge Brown is notable for his expressions of disapproval, such as "Outrageous!", "Sick!", and in particular, "Shocking!"
