Constance Zimmer (Claire Simms) first appeared on Boston Legal in episode 3x02 [New Kids On The Block]. She then appeared in the guest credits of every subsequent episode through 3x07 [Trick Or Treat]. On October 31, 2006, ABC announced in a press release that Zimmer would be joining the cast as a series regular in episode 3x08 [Lincoln].

The Seattle-born Zimmer has had regular or recurring roles in several previous series, including Good Morning, Miami, Joan of Arcadia, and most recently appeared in Entourage and In Justice. Zimmer also appeared in one episode of Jake in Progress, with Julie Bowen, as well as in an episode of David E. Kelley's Chicago Hope.
