My brother has been arguing with the Mass. Department of Revenue (DOR) about his tax return for years. He has lived in poverty because of their garnishing of his bank accounts and wages. People recognized him by the holes in the soles of his shoes when they were sticking out of the dumpster. The DOR finally sued him for over 40 thousand dollars they said he owed, He counter sued for over 4 million. The DOR decided they had made a mistake and wanted him to drop the case. They DOR has tried on two occasions to get the judge to drop the case, but so far, he has refused. My brother is claiming no only fraud, defamation of character, liable, and slander, but the bigger issue is the unconstitutionally of the tactics used by the DOR for their collections. They can simply tell you that you owe money, then take that money from you without even proving it in court. After they take all your money, they then tell you to sue them. No lawyer will 'take on' the DOR or IRS for they are afraid of them also. So, my brother, who is not a lawyer, is doing this all himself. This would make a great television show!! This is an extremely condensed explanation of what led to this suit.
In 1985, our I. R. S. desk-audited my 1982 return, which was timely and correct in every detaiL I begin my benevolences with a 1 st-fruits tithe, and my income was modest, so they decided I had overstated my deductions. They prepared and filed a new return for me, and sent me a bill. This bill included the amount they figured I had underpaid, plus a late-filing penalty based on the date they filed their return, plus interest. Proving again their identity with our I. R. S. by doing no due diligence of their own, our Massachusetts Department of Revenue jumped in, saying, ifI owed the I. R. S., I must owe them, too.I checked my return, |

You don't know how you hit the mail on the head about Homeland Security's FEMA-type screening system. I was the press officer for the FAA's task force that developed, tested, and verified a screening system that had a "profile" as Step One. If a passenger hit no less than SIX elements of the "profile," he/she was detained. Electronic search came second. Because all passengers today are presumed to be potential Middle East terrorists, the current system never will work. A two-tiered profiled is needed; one for potential Middle East terrorists, and another that will facilitate boarding for the rest of us innocdent travelers. By the war, had the "profile" still been Step One on 9/11, all 19 terrorists would have been detained. We are not safer with the current system, merely humiliated. And, not one potential Middle East terorists has been caught since 9/11. When will Americans demand a sensible screening system as I have suggested?

Please in the future triple check your psychological facts. The comment to Clarice (or a variation) that "she" is not "Schizophrenic" is something a Introductory Psychology student would know is incorrect! Dissociative Idenitity Disorder (Multiple Personalities) is NOT the same thing as Schizophrenia! I will be bringing this error up in my classes tomorrow as why it is so important to know what you are talking about!
