Nancy Murr was the mother of a young woman hospitalized in critical condition due to complications from anorexia nervosa, in 3x10 [The Nutcrackers]. Denny Crane, representing Sophia Wilson, hoped that seeing young Kathy Murr lying near death would shock Claire Wilson into getting help for her own condition rather than embracing it as a lifestyle choice. However, the effect was to drive Claire further away from her own mother.
