Nora Jacobs was Alan Shore's former secretary. Being a young, attractive woman meant that she was instantly a target for Alan's sexual banter - he would rate the sweaters that she wore to work, and would tell her of the explicit dreams he had about her.

Eventually, the banter escalated to a point where Nora no longer felt able to handle herself, and soon after Shirley Schmidt's arrival at Crane, Poole and Schmidt Nora went to her to try to get the matter resolved. Nora admitted to Shirley that she had occasionally played along, and Shirley thanked her for coming forward and said she would take care of it.

After being approached by Shirley, Alan called Nora into his office and asked her why she didn't come to him when she started feeling uncomfortable rather than go over his head. Nora explained that she didn't feel she could "hold her own" with Alan, and said that she'd only participated in the banter because she'd wanted her boss to like her.

Alan gave a very eloquent speech to Nora (on which Shirley eavesdropped), apologizing for not recognizing that she felt harassed despite her participation. He also said that he wouldn't be able to change his ways, and because of that he reassigned Nora to another lawyer within the firm. Shirley thanked Alan for resolving the situation and promised to find him another secretary.
