Tara Wilson was one of the four original main characters of
Boston Legal who had carried over from the final season of
The Practice. On that show, she played a paralegal at
Young, Frutt & Berluti before she was fired and moved to
Crane, Poole & Schmidt. By the time of the pilot episode of Boston Legal, she was no longer a paralegal and had become a first-year attorney.
While Tara did not have a lot of casework on the show, she is best-known for her relationship with
Alan Shore. The two met when they both worked at Young, Frutt & Berluti. Tara is one of the few women who has played "hard-to-get" with Alan, rejecting his various sexual advances and suggestions throughout
The Practice until their relationship was finally consummated at the end of episode
1x06 [Truth Be Told]. Their relationship continued until episode
2x02 [Schadenfreude], when Alan "caught her laughing with another man" - her ex-boyfriend Malcolm Holmes - and realized he had lost her. Tara announced that she was leaving the firm in
2x03 [Finding Nimmo], which was also her last appearance on the show.
