Detective Wade Spindle first appears in episodes 3x08 [Lincoln] and 3x09 [On The Ledge], investigating the death of Judge Gilbert Potts in 3x07 [Trick Or Treat].

Actor Nigel Gibbs has had one previous appearance on Boston Legal, in episode 1x07 [Questionable Characters], in which he played a court officer sent to check that landlord Walter Mack was complying with his sentence. It seems unlikely that this character and Detective Spindle are meant to be one and the same.

Gibbs has been appearing on film and television since the mid-1980s. He often plays law enforcement roles, including as a detective in several episodes of Melrose Place, with Laura Leighton. His other Boston Legal connections include appearances on David E. Kelley's Chicago Hope (1997) and Bill D'Elia's Judging Amy (2001).
